Event Details
Bamaga, Australia’s northernmost settlement, serves as the starting point for the Cape York Marathon. The event features a 7km fun run, a 21k half marathon, and a 42km marathon.
Situated 1000 kilometres north-west of Cairns, the Bamaga community is gearing up for an exciting challenge as they strive to make history by reaching Australia’s most northern tip. The night before the history-making event, Bamaga will be hosting a briefing and welcome party. It is anticipated that this event will create unforgettable memories for everyone participating in the race.
Starting at dawn on the outskirts of the peaceful town, a traditional Welcome to Country ceremony will mark the beginning of the race. Competitors can follow the existing 4WD track to reach the rocky outcrop and then race back to Bamaga.
