Tully Golden Gumboot
Tully Golden Gumboot is worth the visit and the story!
Tully is located between Townsville and Cairns on the Bruce Highway. Just off the highway the Golden Gumboot and a newly designed gumboot plaza (Sep24) is ready to welcome you at Banyan Park, Tully.
The Golden Gumboot is a fraction off 8 meters in height to exactly match the level of the highest annual rainfall ever recorded in an Australian town (recorded in Tully in 1950). Climbing the gumboot is a white-lipped green tree frog, and an internal spiral staircase winds its way up to a viewing platform overlooking the town.
Inspiration for the Golden Gumboot coming from the local rivalry with near-by towns for the annual Gumboot Award and the record rail levels of 1950.
The Golden Gumboot is well located to take some time to stroll Tully, do a Sugar Mill Tour, or head out to the spectacular Tully Gorge.
