Cairns Regional Council operates and supports many community markets across the region, showcasing local businesses and the unique wares that Cairns has to offer. Tanks Markets
Tanks Markets offers a vibrant showcase of local art, crafts, fresh produce, vintage clothing, collectables, and natural health products and sustainable products. Enjoy a relaxed day exploring a variety of stalls, live music from local artists, delicious food, and refreshments. This free, family-friendly event is managed by the Tanks Arts Centre at Cairns Regional Council
Carnival on Collins
Over 200 market stalls featuring plants, arts, crafts and more will line the streets, together with an extensive array of free workshops that make up Carnival on Collins, a Cairns’ Father’s Day tradition and a part of Cairns Festival. Held once a year early in September.
Rusty’s Markets
Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of Cairns at the Rusty’s Markets in the heart of the city. There’s fresh local produce, artisan breads, organic meat, spices, tropical flowers, locally produced cheeses and charcuterie plus an eclectic mix of handicrafts. Open Fri to Sat 5am – 6pm and Sun 5am – 3pm.
Cairns Night Markets
The night markets allows you have have a walk on the Esplanade and grab dinner before launching a quest for bargains at the Market. Here, you’ll find food stalls, clothing, arts, crafts, accessories, jewellery and even a massage and beauty sector. Open daily 4.30pm – 11pm (check website for public holidays).
Gordonvale Cottage Markets
Held in the heart of sugar farming township of Gordonvale on the first Saturday of each month (February through December) is the Gordonvale Cottage Markets. With up to 120 stalls at the markets each month stallholders come from around the region. Expect live entertainment, smiling faces and a little bit of country town flare.
Palm Cove Markets
The Palm Cove Markets, held on Williams Esplanade, Palm Cove, run from April to December, featuring over 130 stalls selling arts, crafts, gifts, souvenirs, plants, produce, massage, wellness, a free jumping castle, buskers, and stunning views of the beach.
Port Douglas & Mossman Markets
Port Douglas hosts a Sunday cotters market in Market Park, adjacent to ANZAC Park, for over 35 years, offering locally produced food, fruits, vegetables, and hand-crafted goods. The Port Douglas Markets are a popular Sunday morning activity from 8am-1.30pm. Visit before midday every Saturday at the Mossman Markets, located under ancient rain trees and St. David’s Anglican Church gardens.
Kuranda and Mareeba Markets
The picturesque mountain retreat of Kuranda Village is just 25km northwest of Cairns. Both the Original Markets and the Heritage Markets are open from Wednesday to Sunday. The Mareeba Markets, held monthly on 2nd and 5th Saturdays at 1 Fenwick Street Mareeba Turf Club, feature up to 180 stalls showcasing locally grown produce, handmade products, and food drinks.
Yungaburra Markets
On the fourth Saturday of each month, from 7.30am-12.30pm, 250 local growers, producers and artisans gather to display and sell their produce and handiwork at the Yungaburra Markets located in the middle of the historic village of Yungaburra on the Atherton Tablelands.
Mission Beach Markets
The Mission Beach Markets are local community markets in Ulysses Day Park, Mission Beach, offering a variety of goods from fruit and vegetables to takeaway food, clothing, jewellery, books, and handcrafted wares, held on the first and third Sundays of each month.
