Frankland Islands Reef Cruises
Frankland Islands Reef Cruises is an exclusive Cairns Great Barrier Reef Island Day tour. It starts with a rainforest river cruise, followed by the shortest open water crossing of any of the Cairns Day tour boats, to put you right on the Great Barrier Reef.
Their destination is Normanby Island in the beautiful Frankland Islands National Park. Surrounded by vibrant fringing reefs, it’s home to many species of marine life, including turtles, octopus and the ever-popular anemone clownfish, Nemo.
You have up to 4.5 hours to explore and enjoy this natural paradise, above and below the water. They’re the only commercial operator with a permit to visit these pristine, uninhabited islands, with a maximum of 100 people per day.
Your day includes coach transfers from Cairns CBD accommodation, a guided snorkel tour, a guided island walks (including a kids’ treasure hunt) and a buffet lunch.
Optional activities include the adventure snorkel safari or grab a kayak or stand-up paddleboard and explore. Guided Introductory Diving is also available at an extra cost. You don’t need any previous scuba diving experience – if you’re comfortable in the water, and with no medical conditions that preclude you from scuba diving, you can usually do an intro dive. You’ll be given briefings; tuition and all the skills practice you need.
