Back Country Bliss Adventures
Back Country Bliss Adventures is an eco-certified tour company based in Port Douglas, running small-group and private tours through the Daintree Rainforest and Mossman Gorge.
Its signature River Drift Experience starts with a guided walk up a crystal-clear stretch of the Mossman River, followed by a relaxing float back down on a river sled beneath the rainforest canopy. The full-day Mossman Gorge Adventure Day adds lunch, a traditional smoking ceremony with a Kuku Yalanji host, and a guided walk and swim at Mossman Gorge in the Daintree National Park.
Groups are kept small, with up to 12 guests and free pickup from Port Douglas and Mossman. Private tours can be tailored or built from scratch, with options including Daintree River cruises, Indigenous cultural experiences, e-bike rides, guided rainforest hikes and helicopter days, and pickups from Palm Cove and Cairns.
Back Country Bliss works alongside Indigenous-owned businesses and supports Rainforest Rescue’s reforestation work in the Daintree.

Mossman Gorge Adventure Day
Immerse yourself in a rainforest experience like no other! Start your day at a secret Mossman River location with our one-of-a-kind 'River Drift' tour. Begin with a fascinating river walk, exploring the lush rainforest, followed by a fun float downstream on our specially designed river sleds. This journey, away from the usual trails, offers a unique perspective of the rainforest. After a well-deserved lunch, travel a short distance to the Mossman Gorge Visitors Centre. On arrival you’ll receive a cultural education by the traditional owners, the Kuku Yalanji people. You’ll be welcomed with a traditional smoking ceremony that cleanses the body and welcomes you into the rainforest as a friend. Your adventure continues as you explore the Daintree National Park at an easy pace, this interpretive 1.5 hour walk, will leave you with a deeper understanding of this breath-taking rainforest.. River Drift Experience
Escape into the rainforest on our River Drift, a perfect retreat from the heat, located just 20 minutes north of Port Douglas. This unique tour offers a blend of hiking and serene river floating in the lush rainforest of the Mossman River. Begin with a rewarding walk upstream on a granite sand bed, towing your lightweight river sled behind amidst the rainforest canopy. Uncover the fascinating history and significance of the Mossman River, learning about its vital role in the ecosystem, take refreshing swims in clear waters, and immerse yourself in the stunning surroundings. The journey takes an exciting turn as you board your river sled, setting off on a floating adventure downstream. Gliding through a secret creek, you'll merge onto the main Mossman River. Here, surrounded by rainforest and the gentle sounds of flowing water, the river carries you through its winding path. This tour is an ideal mix of active exploration and relaxed floating, making it the perfect way to cool off and connect with nature, just a stone's throw from Port Douglas.
Private Daintree & Mossman Gorge Tours
Private tours give one group its own guide and vehicle for the day, with an itinerary planned around the group's interests and pace. Options include a private River Drift on the Mossman River, a private Mossman Gorge Adventure Day with a Kuku Yalanji smoking ceremony, spear fishing and beach foraging with Kuku Yalanji guides at Cooya Beach, Daintree River cruises, Cape Tribulation and the Daintree coast, e-bike rides through the Mossman Valley, guided hikes such as Spring Creek, Mowbray Falls and Devil's Thumb, and a helicopter day into the remote Daintree. Any tour can be customised, or a day can be built from scratch. Pickups are available from Port Douglas, Mossman, Palm Cove and Cairns, and private guided transfers from Cairns Airport can be arranged.
