Atherton Herberton Historic Railway
Currently, guests can enjoy the fully restored 1905 Peckett steam locomotive and wooden carriages running on the line between the Herberton Railway Station and the Historic Village Herberton platforms on selected weekends.
Marvel at a piece of their 114 year history travelling along their owned railway track built in 1910. The Cairns to Herberton railway line was completed in 1910. In 2003 AHHR retained the Atherton to Herberton railway line to keep their history alive.
With a 1940’s style railway refreshment room developed by their volunteers at the Herberton Railway station, they have travellers enjoying a special experience “stepping back in time” travelling on their 1905 Peckett Steam Locomotive and 1913 wooden passenger carriage.
